John 21:17 - Jesus asked him the third time, "Do you love me?" He said, "Lord, you know all things; you know that I love you."Jesus said, "Feed my sheep.

I am starting my blog today with a feeling of apprehension and excitement. Apprehension because I am somewhat of a private person and blogs are all about sharing your life with others. Excitement because I know it is the next step in my walk with the Lord and I have great hope about what God may do with this to help others. That's because this whole thing is about inspiring others to have more hope for a brighter future, a better tomorrow. If the things that I go through can in any way be encouragement to others, then I am fulfilling my destiny to be a light in this dark world.
This calls to mind the scripture in which Jesus is talking to one of his disciples, Peter. Three times Jesus asks if Peter loves him and three times Peter responds that he does. Jesus repeats that if he truly loves him, he should feed his sheep. That tells me that inspiring others and "feeding" people with the good news of Jesus is not optional. It is the way we show we love him. I once shared with a friend that I was bashful to even post anything on Facebook because I would worry so much about what people would think. My friend eloquently put it to me just as I needed it: "get over it", he said. Ok, so i have gotten over my fear of posting things on Facebook but another key factor is that I need to have something to say. What better things to say then to proclaim the goodness of God as I discover it in my own life so that it may benefit and encourage others? You should do likewise. proclaiming and demonstrating God's greatness is the best thing we can possibly say with our whole lives.
So that is what this blog will be all about. A glimpse into my personal journey, but hopefully presented in a way that will give all who read and watch (I hope to present a video with most of my entries - see the fun "movie trailer" intro video below) something that will help them grow in faith and get closer to the Lord, Jesus Christ. That is ultimately my purpose in life - to feed His sheep.
How about you? are you living for others? Or are you living to serve your self and have an ever increasing better life? Do you see your life's goodness as a by-product of serving and following the Lord? Jesus said that we are to seek first His kingdom and his righteousness and that all the other things would be added to us (Matthew 6:33). This is how we avoid worry and live a blessed life (verse 34). It really is the key to everything, so if you are living for yourself and your own happiness and pleasure rather than living to glorify God through Jesus Christ you are missing the mark. This is true whether you call yourself a Christian and go to church or not. The key is to live FOR Jesus and his kingdom and the righteousness that comes through faith in his atoning sacrifice on the cross for our sins. If you don't really "get it" and perhaps have heard about this all your life but are still wondering how to make this true to your own life in a personal way, contact me and let's talk about this. That is what I am here for and what this blog will be all about.
But don't forget that feeding others - living to share God's goodness - is a necessary part of the package. Jesus said to feed his sheep three times to Peter, which emphasizes its importance. That is what I am doing through this blog, and i hope to inspire you to do something similar to feed sheep in your own lives.
